Are you facing challenges that life often throws our way but finding it difficult to work through them, or feel that something isn’t quite right and feel overwhelmed all of the time? Are you looking to make changes in your life but are not sure where to start, or even how to start either in your personal or professional life? At some point we all struggle with concerns or troubles that may inhibit our happiness and wellbeing. All too often we struggle to know who to ask for help as everyone else seems to have their own problems and we feel guilty reaching out as we don’t like to feel like a burden, so we are left feeling alone and isolated not knowing where to turn. Counselling provides you with a safe place to explore your situation in a safe, supportive and confidential environment with someone who can empathise, understand your situation and help guide you to solutions, new ways of thinking, or just give you space to explore your thoughts and feelings.

My role as a therapist is to work in a holistic, non-judgemental way allowing clients a safe place to explore their understanding of what is driving their current feelings. I help clients see things in a different way and help them make sense of what is happening in their world, teaching them useful tools to help them manage feelings and emotions or help them build confidence and self-belief.

As an integrative therapist, I am trained in and can employ differing types of counselling which can include the following;
Person-centred Counselling – This therapy works in a client- led way which is non-directive and believes in each individual’s ability and potential for change and personal growth.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – This is a therapy that looks at helping us to manage problems by changing the way in which we think, feel and behave.
Transactional Analysis – This is a therapy that looks at our social interactions, allowing us the opportunity to gain insight into how we relate to ourselves and the world around us.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an alternative treatment for physical pain and emotional distress. It’s also referred to as tapping or psychological acupressure. It draws on various theories of alternative medicine – including acupuncture, neuro-linguistic programming, and Thought Field Therapy (TFT).

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. It encourages the individual to briefly focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the negative emotion associated with the trauma memories.
